Richard L. Davenport, Director of Bands
Richard L. Davenport is currently Band Director at Chipley High School in Chipley, Florida. A graduate of Gulf Breeze High School, he holds Bachelors and Master Degrees from Florida State University. Mr. Davenport began his passion for teaching young people the art of music at Marianna High School in 1989, moving to Graceville High School in 1993. In 1999, he accepted his current position at Chipley High School, where the Marching, Symphonic and Jazz Bands have all earned consistent Superiors at FBA Assessments under his direction. The CHS Band performed as a guest band at the 2006 Troy University Southeastern States Band & Conducting Clinic in Troy, Alabama and in the 2011 Florida Governor's Inaugural Parade.
Mr. Davenport was one of two recipients the prestigious 2010 Oliver Hobbs Award from the Florida Bandmasters Association and was the CHS 2001 Teacher of the Year.
Mr. Davenport is a member of the Florida Bandmasters Association, the Florida Music Educators Association, Phi Beta Mu, and Kappa Kappa Psi. He has served in several District and State leadership capacities in the FBA and is active as an adjudicator and honor band clinician throughout the state of Florida and Alabama. He is currently serving as FBA State President-Elect, the FBA representative to the Florida School Music Association, and chairs the FBA Music Performance Assessment Committee. He is an active deacon and music ministry member of First Baptist Church Chipley.

Mr. Mackenzie Lane, Assistant Director
Mr. Lane is the Assistant Director of the CHS Band. He is currently a Music Education student at the Baptist College of Florida and a member of the 2011 Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps.
